I hope you and my great grandfather are proud of me.  It never crossed my mind to ask my parents or my grandma about you; sorry about that!  In school, my teachers feed the students ideas that the white people are good and found land but indigenous people,  my ancestors, already inhabited this land; they never taught me to admire my ancestors. The teachers and books never talked about indigenous people; I'm very sorry about that. I know now that you worked hard and never gave up. It makes me proud to know that I have an ancestor with so much strength. This flame inside my heart fuels every step of my journey to becoming as strong as you."
